NECHAMA (Hebrew for comfort) is the Jewish community's disaster response organization. Based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, NECHAMA has deployed thousands of volunteers to help communities clean-up after floods, tornados, and other natural disasters.
Rooted in the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), NECHAMA offers help to all people regardless of religious affiliation. We do not ask “Who are you?” but rather “How can we help?” We work shoulder-to-shoulder with homeowners in urban and rural areas, generally providing help to the most vulnerable: the elderly, the poor, single parents, and people with disabilities or other health problems.
